Special Moment #5: NMSU CS Department
I found my office! It was next to Dr. Frank Harary’s. He was a famous mathematician and was considered the father of graph theory, a subject I loved when I was a CS major undergraduate at Peking University. I still have a copy of his book which he autographed for me. When I was at NMSU, he was a distinguished professor emeritus. He loved to talk and would visit me every time he was on campus.
My office was just like I remembered: spacious! Look at those windows! It is now a student lab with more tables and chairs. When I was here, just two doctoral students were sharing it, and my office mate rarely came.
Special Moment #5: NMSU Campus
I tried to replicate the photos I put in the memoir. Not all could be replicated because the campus has changed.
As shown in the new photo, there have been significant structural changes around this landmark statue. The building behind was replaced by a taller and bigger one.
The tower surroundings are changed too, no wonder I could not find it until I asked around.
Special Moment #6: 1555 Monte Vista
This was my apartment at the time. It looks much fancier now: the landscape and the parking lot are so much nicer. My apartment was 204. Too bad I didn’t have a photo of my apartment from back then.
